Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to decrease the frequency of hoovering manually. Look for one that offers excellent navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that requires emptying only every few times.
You can also find models that clean and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or kids. Many of the best performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes clearing out any toys or clutter it might encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or through the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. robot vacuum deals over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+ such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the coffee table or a bookshelf that you can spin around like the magic device.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to collect large dust and crumbs. It has three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It is able to swiftly change from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as an clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its short run time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests show. This is a typical not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's enough time to clean the average-sized home, but not enough to reach every area. (A second run is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's a good option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, as it has a better battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a greater variety of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app provides a range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and many more. The app is simple to learn and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tested and could be a deterrent for some buyers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible via the app, and you can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be washed for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. The robots have an extra wide cleaning path, and dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This allows them to clean the area for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level according to whether it's cleaning up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also includes a smart application that lets you see the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. You can also check the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's stuck.
The app allows you to steer the robot manually, if necessary. My living room rug, for example has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL, however was able to continue to move across the border without registering the edge. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
